celebrating ten years of rock ‘n roll
For over 10 years only one band worked harder, few bands rocked harder, and fewer bands still were as just plain loud, energetic, infecting and ultimately enjoyable as Vancouver BC’s power-foursome. Thriving in the stifling obscurity that is indie-rock, Hissy Fit’s brand of paint-stripping, earth-shaking, table-breaking, melodically-anthemic rock and roll still managed to garner fans from everywhere from Saskatoon to Prague, plus a few points in between.
“Why this band has not yet [never, as it turned out] attained some amount of ‘hugeness’ is beyond me. I am bewildered,” wrote Leza Malone, of the Westender in 2001. In fact, toward the end, “Why aren’t you famous?” was probably the most asked question in interviews than any other. Hissy Fit knew, though, that that stuff (fame) wasn’t in their control. The only thing in their power was their drive and desire to play the crap out of every song, at every show, every venue, at every city that they were privileged enough to play, which they did with some crazy wild-abandon.
Anybody who ever saw Hissy Fit knew what they knew. While music might have its shades of grey, being in a band does not - you either rock or you do not rock!
Hissy Fit Rocked.
a band called hissy fit
It was the best of times, it was the blurst of times. But that’s life in a rock and roll band. For ten years we gave it our all and had some truly amazing times, met fabulous people and played some truly bizarre venues. If you were ever there with us to experience any of it, we salute you. If this site is your introduction to us and our music then we hope you enjoy the band that was.
